Appearance: http://i.imgur.com/0yzs1ff.png Her normal outfit, though she also has a long black trench-coat she stalks around in sometimes.
History: http://skullgirls.wikia.com/wiki/Ms._Fortune
Timeline: In her story mode, after destroying the Skull Heart but before returning to Little Innsmouth
Personality:
What happens when you attempt to mix Highlander, Catwoman, Itchy and Scratchy, and Robin Hood? ...probably something really disgusting, if we're talking literally. But that's okay, because Nadia Fortune (or Miss Fortune as her pun-tastic moniker is) is basically Body Horror: The Catgirl. She was raised from a kitten by a gang of four Dagonians (fish-people from the Dragon Kingdom) who also happened to be thieves. It's not likely that she was recruited, but rather adopted by the Fishbone Gang for reasons that are not made clear (presumably her family was killed or she was otherwise abandoned). She wasn't trained to be a thief, she just sort of grew up into it. Nadia was brought up stealing from the rich to give to those less fortunate; to steal for the sake of others and the thrill of it rather than her own greed. This led to the unfortunate incident where they managed to get their hands on the precious Life Gem held by the Medici Mafia. The Gang was caught red-handed and sliced up, but not before Nadia could swallow the Life Gem and absorb its powers into herself, making her immortal.
After escaping that horrible mess, a Dagonian chef named Yu-Wan took her in. She still held a thirst for vengeance against the Medici Mafia, but despite that Nadia retained her lively personality. She enjoys Yu-Wan's cooking and he doesn't seem to mind her jokes at all, and neither does Minette, the waitress that works at his restaurant. Nadia still has her sense of humor, which can be morbid but is mostly just made up of terrible puns at everyone's expense (including her own). While fighting, she appears to enjoy the freedom her immortal body grants her in terms of flexibility, and honestly he whole "not dying" part is pretty swell, too. [More of the extent of that is clear below in the abilities section!] Overall, unless someone is affiliated with the police, the mafia, or is in some way out to get at her friends and family, Nadia is all too eager to chat them up and subject them to her puntastic humor.
Nadia is an active woman, and her interests include many sports, such as golf, volleyball, and bowling. She incorporates techniques from these into her fighting but her form isn't anything to write home about. That doesn't stop her from having a good time! As one might expect from a cat-girl and a thief, she's a fan of parkour as well. One would not have to scratch too deep to find other cat-like traits that Nadia exhibits, such as playing with large balls of yarn, hissing, scratching, leaping from building-to-building, enjoying naps in the warm sun... oh, except it's not a good idea to get her around raw fish. Considering what happened to the Fishbone Gang, sushi is right off of the menu.
Behind her outgoing exterior that most will observe lies the Nadia that cannot let go of the tragedy that befell the Fishbone Gang. They were, after all, the only people she knew as family. When thugs working for the mafia come to try and whisk Minette away, Nadia comes to the decision that she cannot sulk about shadows any longer. Her curiosity over the goons' intentions pays off, and she moves to strike back at the mafia. It's during the battles that ensued that she finds a chance to go after another mysterious magical artifact known as the "Skull Heart". The Skull Heart can grant any wish at the cost of turning that person into a powerful "Skullgirl". She truly believed it would be the key to enacting her plan of revenge and also reunite her with the rest of her family.
She was not the only one out to get the Skull Heart, and though she fought several opponents on her path toward the current Skullgirl, she did not hold it against them. Heck, she didn't even hold it against the Skullgirl. They all had their own dreams and desires motivating them, and were likely just as stubborn in accomplishing their own ends as Nadia was. Marie was even trying to talk to Nadia as if they were on the same level, with their motivations to revive their dead friends and also that they shared a deep hatred of the Medici Mafia. Nadia fully realizes that her wish is selfish, but it has been her only driving force throughout her entire quest thus far. The only thing that the others lacked was the skill, tenacity, and resolve to win. It was nothing personal against them. ... Except Valentine. The others wanted her out of the picture, it's true, but Valentine wanted to dissect her like some kind of science experiment and that especially got under Nadia's skin.
When Double announced that she and Valentine were in cahoots with the Skullgirl, this became the chance Nadia had been looking for! She drew upon every bit of her ferocity in order to defeat them and come face-to-face with the current Skullgirl, Marie, who also did not stand much of a chance against her.
Fortunately for Ms. Fortune (and the rest of the world), she came to the conclusion that what had happened in the past had helped shape her present self, and that she would be dishonoring the memory of the Fishbone Gang by using such cruel means to resurrect them. Nadia destroys the Skull Heart, instantly feeling more at peace with herself, and now she will be able to to come to grips with her loss. She'll just have to find some other way to get back at the mafia.
Abilities:
Nadia is immortal and it could be inferred that she either has a massive pain tolerance, or some other way to disconnect her actions from the level of pain normal people feel. This is because her fighting style is based around using and abusing her body to the limits of what is humanly and inhumanly possible. She can have her head cut off, and still operate her body and head independent of one another. She can pressurize her blood and use its spray like jets to maneuver around. She can separate her limbs in several sections (not just the joints) in order to extend her reach, leap out of the way, knot someone up in a ball with her muscles, absorb impacts, and etc. Nadia can also harden parts of her body (ears and tail, notably) and has used her pointy ears as a drill weapon by ripping off her own head and thrusting it forward while spinning her arm, or torn off her own tail and used it as a crude sort of bladed weapon.
It is seriously ridiculous and utterly disgusting.
Her biggest weakness appears to be in times where she is struck upside the head or when attacked while her head is disconnected from her body. After looking closely at combat animations, any time her head is struck (whether by someone else, or Nadia herself using it as a golf ball attack), she has to recover from the maneuver. Using her "blood jet" style propulsion leaves her looking tired for a few moments -- likely while she regenerates, which is harder when being away from her heart. This could also explain how it is possible to actually knock her out, even temporarily, despite her near-instant regeneration and immortality.
Basically, one could subject Nadia to the same kind of cartoon hyper-violence portrayed in a show like Happy Tree Friends, and she would bounce right back from it. The only way to kill her is is that if she were to be wholly crushed or otherwise obliterated, it would be possible to extract the Life Gem from within her.
Inventory:
Nadia barely has any clothes to speak of, but there is also her coat, and I presume the pouches on her belt hold small trinkets and also thieving tools. Lockpicks, rope, etc.
Prose Sample:
Whoever drugged her and dropped her out in cat-only-knows-where was seriously going to pay. This is the prevailing thought as Nadia perched herself stop the roof of the temple she woke up nearby. Street instinct dictates that high vantage points are great for tailing people and also evaluating entrances and exits, but that isn't what she was doing right now. She was just interested in scoping out her surroundings and seeing if she could figure out where this "Demeleier" was supposed to be. Any licking of her wounded pride would have to wait until she managed a proper bath.
Below in the dirt and snow were signs of a bloody struggle, though except for being dirty from her coat on inward, the thief was none the worse for wear. In the distance around her were sights that were nearly unfamiliar to her. Trees and mountains, fields and huts. A far throw from any urban landscapes she might have called home. There were no recognizable landmarks, no road signs, no highways. Out of her element, Nadia felt disgruntled and disoriented. "Like a fish out of water," she mumbled bitterly under her breath, following it up with a chuckle.
Nadia stood up and put her hands on her hips. "No sense in sulking up here alone." Even if her arrival had killed the buzz of her victory against the Skull Hear, this was no time to worry over how to break this news to Minette and Yu-Wan. Her gaze trailed along the river one direction until she spied the lake surrounded by more trees, and then the other direction until a wider shore came into view. If Nadia's dearest friends were at all nearby, they would be where there was water; of that she had no doubt. It's not a purrfect plan, but it would be a good start.

[ The mirror doesn't have much to show for itself right now except an upward view of an overcast sky. This isn't a nature show meant to highlight a lovely view of an impending storm, but an accident. Someone seems to have been disarmed of their precious new magic artifact before having a chance to fully utilize it. Said owner is most upset about this, and making her yowls of protest known to all in the immediate (and not so immediate) vicinity. ]
Hey! Hey, put me down!
Put!
Me!
Down!
[ There is a dull thump, like someone dropping a heavy sack onto the snow. ]
Okay now put the rest of me down! [ Another thump, a thud, and a jingle of something. Keys, or coins, it'd be hard to tell without a discerning ear. ] No no no you leave those right where you found them. I'm warning mew. Don't make me roll over there! Rrrawr! [ The woman snarls and there is a shuffling in the snow that gets closer. Something rolls over the top of the mirror, momentarily obscuring the view with its shadow and jostling it with its weight. Seems that something did roll over there after all. Something that left a few droplets of melting snow behind. Melting snow with red blotches... ]
Wait, where are you going? No, come back! Grrr, you little thugs just wait 'til I get my claws back. I'll use you as my new scratching posts, do you hear me!? [ Things quiet down for a long moment after. It seems that whatever else was making noise, the shuffling and the giggling, has left. The woman heaves a heavy sigh. ]
